۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 We encompassed him in Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
