۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
