The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
