And Noah, when he cried of old, We heard his prayer and saved him and his household from the great affliction. 76 We helped him against people who denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil. So We drowned them all. 77 And David and Solomon they passed judgment upon the tilled land on which the people's sheep had strayed. We bore witness to their judgment, and 78 And We made Solomon to understand (the case); and unto each of them We gave judgment and knowledge. And we subdued the hills and the birds to hymn (His) praise along with David. We were the doers (thereof). 79 And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful? 80 And unto Solomon (We subdued) the wind in its raging. It set by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And of everything We are Aware. 81 We subdued the devils who would dive into the sea for him and perform other tasks for Solomon. We kept them in his service. 82 ۞ And (remember) Ayub (Job), when he cried to his Lord: "Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy." 83 We answered him and removed his affliction, and We gave his people, and those like them that were with them, mercy from Us, as a reminder to those who worship. 84 And (mention) Ishmael, and Idris, and Dhu'l-Kifl. All were of the steadfast. 85 and We admitted them into Our mercy; they were of the righteous. 86 And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the deptHs of darkness, "There is no god but thou: glory to thee: I was indeed wrong!" 87 Thereupon We accepted his prayer, and rescued him from grief. Thus do We rescue the believers. 88 And Zachariah -- when he called unto his Lord, 'O my Lord, leave me not solitary; though Thou art the best of inheritors.' 89 So We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife fit for him; surely they used to hasten, one with another In deeds of goodness and to call upon Us, hoping and fearing and they were humble before Us. 90 And she who was chaste, therefor We breathed into her (something) of Our Spirit and made her and her son a token for (all) peoples. 91 This community of yours is one community and I am your Lord, so worship Me. 92 But they have broken up and differed as regards their religion among themselves. (And) they all shall return to Us. 93
