The chiefs of the people who did not believe and denied the life to come, though We had given them good things of this life to enjoy, (said): "He is only a mortal like you. He eats as you do, and drinks as you drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
