The Statute Book (Al-Furqaan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Blessed is He Who sent down the Furqan upon His servant that he may be a warner to the nations; 1 Sovereign of the heavens and the earth, who has begotten no children and who has no partner in His sovereignty, it is He who has created all things and measured them out precisely. 2 And people have appointed other Gods besides Him, those who do not create anything but are themselves created, and those who do not have the power to harm or benefit themselves, and who do not have any authority over death or life nor over resurrection. 3 The unbelievers say, 'This is naught but a calumny he has forged, and other folk have helped him to it.' So they have committed wrong and falsehood. 4 They say, "These things are the writings of the ancients which he has got copied down for himself, and then these are recited to him in the morning and evening.'' 5 O Muhammad, say to them, "This has been sent down by Him, Who knows the secret of the heavens and the earth." The fact is that He is very Forgiving and Merciful. 6 And they say: what aileth this apostle, he eateth food and walketh about the market-places; wherefore is not an angel sent down unto him, so that he may be along with him a warner? 7 Or (why is not) treasure thrown down unto him, or why hath he not a paradise from whence to eat? And the evil-doers say: Ye are but following a man bewitched. 8 Behold, how they strike similitudes for thee, and go astray, and are unable to find a way! 9
