۞ But those who do not believe that they are destined to meet Us are wont to say: "Why have no angels been sent down to us?" - or, "Why do we not see our Sustainer?" Indeed, they are far too proud of themselves, having rebelled [against God's truth] with utter disdain! 21 The day they see the angels there will be no happy tidings for the sinners; and they will say: "There is an insurmountable barrier!" 22 And We turned all the deeds they had performed into scattered floating specks of dust. 23 The dwellers of the garden shall on that day be in a better abiding-place and a better resting-place. 24 On that Day, the heaven is split asunder with clouds and the angels are sent down in majesty, 25 The Sovereignty on that day will be the True (Sovereignty) belonging to the Beneficent One, and it will be a hard day for disbelievers. 26 On that Day, the wrongdoer will bite his hands and say, "Would that I had walked in the Messenger's path! 27 Alas for me! Ah, would that I had never taken such an one for friend! 28 "He indeed led me astray from the Reminder (this Quran) after it had come to me. And Shaitan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need." 29 The Messenger says: 'O my Lord, my people have taken this Koran while deserting it' 30 For so it is that against every prophet We have set up enemies from among those who are lost in sin: yet none can guide and give succour as thy Sustainer does! 31 And the disbelievers say, “Why was the Qur’an not sent down to him all at once?” This is how We sent it in stages, in order to strengthen your heart with it and We read it slowly, in stages. 32 And they do not come to you with an argument except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation. 33 Those who will be dragged on their faces towards hell – theirs is the worst destination and they are the most astray. 34
