HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 Send with us the Children of Isra'il? 17 (The Pharaoh) said: "Did we not bring you up as a child? And you lived a number of years of your life with us. 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom, and made me an apostle. 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
