AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 We also gave them Our Signs, yet they turned away from them. 81 Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 Therefore their earnings did not in the least benefit them. 84 We have not created but with reason the heavens and the earth and all that lies within them. The Hour (of the great change) is certain to come. So turn away (from them) with a grace. 85 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-creator, the All-knowing. 86 And assuredly We have vouchsafed unto thee seven of the repetitions and the mighty Qur'an. 87 Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers 88 And say: "I am indeed a plain warner." 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 Those who made the Quran into shreds. 91 By thy Lord, We will question them all. 92 Of what they used to do. 93 Proclaim openly what you are commanded, and avoid the polytheists. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know. 96 We certainly know that their statements sorely grieve you. 97 So hallow thou the praise of thy Lord, and be thou of the prostrate. 98 And serve your Lord until there comes to you that which is certain. 99
