And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
