And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
