And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
