Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
