And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
