And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
