And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
