And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
