Or did those in whose hearts is sickness think that God would not bring to light their rancour? 29 Did We will, We would show them to thee, then thou wouldst know them by their mark; and thou shalt certainly know them in the twisting of their speech; and God knows your deeds. 30 And of a surety We shall prove you all until We know the strivers among you and the steadfast, and We shall prove your states. 31 Surely those who do not believe, and obstruct others from the path of God, and oppose the Prophet after the way of guidance has been opened to them, will not hurt God in the least, and He will nullify all that they have done. 32 O you who believe! obey Allah and obey the Apostle, and do not make your deeds of no effect. 33 ۞ Verily, as for those who are bent on denying the truth and on barring [others] from the path of God, and then die as deniers of the truth - indeed, God will not grant them forgiveness! 34 So do not become weak-kneed and sue for peace, for you will have the upper hand as God is with you and will not overlook your deeds. 35 The life of this world is but a play and a passing delight: but if you believe [in God] and are conscious of Him, He will grant you your deserts. And withal, He does not demand of you [to sacrifice in His cause all of] your possessions: 36 If He asks for all you possess and insist upon it, you will become niggardly, and it will bring out your malevolence. 37 Ha, there you are; you are called upon to expend in God's way, and some of you are niggardly. Whoso is niggardly is niggardly only to his own soul. God is the All-sufficient; you are the needy ones. If you turn away, He will substitute another people instead of you, then they will not be your likes. 38
