And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
