And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
