And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
