And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor a true friend; 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
