The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
