The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and springs. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
