My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
