The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
