Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
