Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 Then those (angels who) distribute blessings by Our command; 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
