The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This has been happening all along. 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
