The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
