The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!" 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
