The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 And leave ye your spouses your Lord hath created for you? Aye! ye are a people trespassing. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Except an old woman, among those who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 And rained on them a shower (of Stones). How terrible was the rain (that fell) on those who had been warned! 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
