The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
