The people of Lot denied the messengers 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said, “O Lut, if you do not desist, you will be expelled.” 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
