The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 I ask of you no reward for this. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 Drop down on us lumps from heaven, if you are one of the truthful' 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
