The companions of the thicket denied the messengers 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old." 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
