[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 What time Shu'aib said unto them: fear ye not? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 "And weigh with scales true and upright. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 Shuayb said: "My Lord knows well all what you do." 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 191

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
