[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'aib said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 177 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 And do not withhold from people what belongs to them, and do not corrupt the land; 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day. 189 Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
