۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Are we then not to die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
