The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 Weigh with correct scales: 182 and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption, 183 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
