And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Except those who believe, and do good works and remember Allah in abundance and became victorious after they had been wronged. The wrongdoers will surely know which turn they will be returning to (Hell). 227
