And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
