When he had grown up to full maturity, We gave him wisdom and knowledge. Thus do We recompense the doers of good. 14 And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy." 15 "O Lord," he prayed, "I have done wrong, forgive me." And God forgave him. Verily He is forgiving and kind. 16 He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals." 17 So he became afraid, looking about in the city (waiting as to what will be the result of his crime of killing), when behold, the man who had sought his help the day before, called for his help (again). Musa (Moses) said to him: "Verily, you are a plain misleader!" 18 Then as he was about to lay hands on the one who was their common enemy, he cried out: "O Moses, do you want to kill me as you killed that person yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and no peacemaker." 19 And a man came from the uttermost part of the city, running. He said: O Moses! Lo! the chiefs take counsel against thee to slay thee; therefor escape. Lo! I am of those who give thee good advice. 20 So he went forth from thence fearing, looking about. He said: my Lord! deliver me from the wrong-doing people. 21
