The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 Do the people reckon that they will be left to say 'We believe,' and will not be tried? 2 We tried those who have gone before them. Allah knows those who are truthful and those who lie. 3 Or bethink those who work ill deeds that they shall outstrip Us? Ill do they judge! 4 Whoever should hope for the meeting with Allah - indeed, the term decreed by Allah is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 5 And whoever strives in Allah's cause, strives only for his own benefit; indeed Allah is Independent of the entire creation. 6 Those who believe and do good deeds, We shall cleanse them of their evil deeds and reward them according to the best of their deeds. 7 We have enjoined on man to be good to his parents; but if they try to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, then do not obey them. You have to come back to Us, when I will tell you what you used to do. 8 And those who believe and work righteous deeds,- them shall We admit to the company of the Righteous. 9 There are some people who say: 'We believe in Allah' yet when such is hurt in the cause of Allah, he makes the persecution of people as though it were the punishment of Allah. But then if help comes from his Lord, he will say: 'We were with you' Does Allah not know what is in the chests of the worlds (people)? 10 Verily Allah knoweth those who believe, and verily He knoweth the hypocrites. 11 Those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Follow our way (of religion) and we verily will bear your sins (for you). They cannot bear aught of their sins. Lo! they verily are liars. 12 And surely they shall bear their loads and other loads beside their own loads, and surely they shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning that which they were wont to fabricate. 13
