The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, We believe, and not be tried? 2 But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. 3 Or do they think - they who do evil deeds [while claiming to have attained to faith] - that they can escape Us? Bad, indeed, is their judgment! 4 Whoever expects to meet Allah – then indeed the time appointed by Allah will come; and He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 5 And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds. 6 We shall expiate the sins of the righteously striving believers and shall reward them better than their deeds. 7 We have charged man, that he be kind to his parents; but if they strive with thee to make thee associate with Me that whereof thou hast no knowledge, then do not obey them; unto Me you shall return, and I shall tell you what you were doing. 8 And those who believe and work righteous deeds,- them shall We admit to the company of the Righteous. 9 There are among men those who say: "We believe in God;" yet if they happen to suffer in the cause of God they take oppression by men as punishment from God. And if help comes to them from your Lord, they say: "We were with you." Does not God know what is hidden in the hearts of men? 10 God certainly knows all about the believers and the hypocrites. 11 And the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Follow our path, and we will bear (the consequences) of your faults." Never in the least will they bear their faults: in fact they are liars! 12 But they verily will bear their own loads and other loads beside their own, and they verily will be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning that which they invented. 13
