The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
