Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Those are the signs of the Wise Book 2 A Guide and a Mercy to the Doers of Good,- 3 who establish the prayer, pay the obligatory charity, and firmly believe in the Everlasting Life. 4 They follow the guidance of their Lord and they will have everlasting happiness. 5 And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). 6 And when Our communications are recited to him, he turns back proudly, as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were a heaviness, therefore announce to him a painful chastisement. 7 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens of serenity. 8 Wherein they will abide. It is a promise of Allah in truth. He is the Mighty, the Wise. 9 He created the heavens without pillars that you see and cast on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. Upon it He dispersed all manner of crawling thing, and He sent down water from the sky with which He caused to grow in it every generous kind. 10 This is the creation of Allah; shew me that which those beside Him have created. Aye! the wrong-doers are in error manifest. 11
