And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment - 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 Save those on whom Allah will have mercy. Verily He! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
