Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Alif, Lam, Meem. 1 THESE ARE MESSAGES of the divine writ, full of wisdom, 2 providing guidance and grace unto the doers of good 3 for those who attend to their prayers and pay the zakat and who have firm faith in the Hereafter: 4 Those are upon guidance from their Lord; those are the prosperers. 5 But among men there are some who spend their time in idle diversions only to lead people astray from the path of God, and without knowledge, hold it up to ridicule: for such there is a humiliating punishment in store. 6 Whenever Our messages are conveyed to such a person, he turns away in his arrogance, as though he had not heard them -- as though his ears were sealed: give him, then, the tidings of grievous suffering [in the life to come]. 7 Surely for those who believe and do the right are pleasure gardens. 8 wherein they will live forever. It is the true promise of God. He is Majestic and All-wise. 9 He hath created the heavens that ye behold without pillars, and hath cast into the earth firm mountains lest it move away with you; and He hath scattered thereon every kind of animal. And We send down water from the heaven and We make grow every kind of goodly growth therein. 10 This is God's creation; now show me what those have created that are apart from Him! Nay, but the evildoers are in manifest error. 11
