And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 And We have made therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein. 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof; and their hands worked it not. Will they not, therefore, give thanks? 35 Purity is to Him Who created all pairs, from what the earth grows, and of themselves, and from the things they do not know. 36 A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And We have appointed positions for the moon till it returns like an old branch of the date palm. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them similar (vessels) on which they ride. 42 and if We will, We drown them, then none have they to cry to, neither are they delivered, 43 except Our mercy which could enable them to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 44 Whenever they are told to guard themselves against sin and the forth coming torment so that perhaps they could receive mercy 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They are awaiting only for one Cry to seize them while they are yet disputing, 49 And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return. 50
